Vascular Lab

When it comes to choosing a provider for your vein treatments, you want to know the practice you select has the training, experience and facility necessary to provide you with a safe and positive experience. At Espinoza Vein Institute, our vascular lab is accredited through the IAC (Intersocietal Accreditation Commission). This accreditation gives our patients peace of mind in knowing they will receive the highest level of patient care and state-of-the-art treatment options for most of their venous conditions.

What is the IAC?

The IAC has two-decades of experience accrediting vascular labs and testing and holding providers accountable for their level of patient care. In order to apply for accreditation, labs must submit samples of vascular examinations performed and may identify and correct potential issues at that time. Once accreditation is granted, labs are required to submit reviews of their daily operations, to identify subsequent areas that need improvement. Accreditation must be renewed every three years.

Vascular conditions are typically assessed by vascular ultrasound, which is a non-invasive, painless test that uses sound waves to create pictures of the patient’s vessels and blood flow. These tests can be used to diagnose a host of conditions, including deep vein thrombosis (DVT), blood clot formation, chronic venous insufficiency and potential narrowing of specific vessels. The accuracy of these tests is dependent on the type of equipment used, the experience and training of the technician and the expertise of the physician reading the results.

Benefits of IAC for Patients

When patients choose a vascular lab accredited by IAC, they can rest assured the lab of choice has all the components necessary to provide accurate examinations and appropriate treatment recommendations. This can alleviate potential problems like unnecessary tests and even misdiagnosis of conditions. For this reason, the choice of vascular labs should always be made, at least in part, on the accreditation of the lab.
